Apply for a scholarship
Thanks to Callaghan Innovation, NZ Entrepreneur and our supporters in the business community we have 60 initial Startup NZ scholarships available for founders nationwide!
Each scholarship will cover the cost of Startup NZ enrollment fees giving each founder up to 12 months online access to the Startup NZ programme (worth $345).
Who can apply?
Scholarships are open to all citizens and legal permanent residents of New Zealand who;
- have an idea for a scalable business or social enterprise with high growth ambition*;
- or are in the early stages of working on a scalable business or social enterprise with high growth ambition*;
- agree to the Terms and Conditions for scholarships when applying.

What does a scholarship include?
The Startup NZ Entrepreneurs Programme is a powerful and comprehensive online course consisting of video, text and interactive lessons and exercises that founders can complete from the comfort of home, supported by weekly optional Zoom mentoring sessions. (View participant comments here.)
It provides valuable information and guidance to assist founders in the early stages of the business startup process, helping build the mindset, knowledge and confidence to create, test and prepare new business and social enterprise ideas for launch.
Upon completing the course we'll also connect you to the people (mentors, accelerators, investors) who can help you scale up your idea.
If your application is successful, Startup NZ Scholarships cover the cost of the course enrollment fee ($345) but it is your responsibility to provide your own internet enabled computer or tablet to access the course online.
You will have up to 12 months online access to the programme from the time your scholarship is awarded including all content and our weekly Zoom mentoring sessions.
What happens if I miss out on a scholarship?
Scholarships will be awarded to qualifying applicants from each region on a "first-in, first-served" basis.
If you miss out on a scholarship, your application will be stored on our waiting list, until a future release of scholarships becomes available.
