Who can apply for a Startup NZ scholarship?
If you would like to join the Startup NZ Entrepreneurs Programme but require financial assistance, you may qualify for a scholarship if you meet the following criteria:
- Financial Need – you would not be able to participate without a scholarship. Please only apply if this support makes the difference between joining and not joining.
- Commitment – you can commit the time and energy required to actively participate and complete the programme.
- Entrepreneurial Drive – you have a strong desire to start or grow your own business, and you’re motivated to take action.
If you can afford to join without a scholarship, or cannot commit your time, we ask that you leave this opportunity for someone who truly needs it. This programme was created to be inclusive and accessible, and you can secure your spot here.

If my application is successful, what does a scholarship include?
If your application is successful, Startup NZ Scholarships cover the cost of your course enrollment fee only.
It is your responsibility to provide your own internet enabled computer or tablet to access the course and optional Zoom support sessions online.
You will have 12 months to complete the programme from the time your scholarship is awarded.
What happens if I miss out on a scholarship?
Each year, there are are limited number of scholarships available for each region each, awarded to qualifying applicants on a "first-in, first-served" basis.
If we are unable to match you with a scholarship at the time of application, your application will be stored on our waiting list, for when the next release of scholarships becomes available.
