Who can apply for a Startup NZ scholarship?

If you are a New Zealand citizen or legal Permanent Resident of New Zealand and would like to join the Startup NZ Entrepreneurs Programme but require financial assistance, you may qualify for a scholarship if you are:

  • Are an unwaged secondary or tertiary education student currently receiving financial assistance in the form of student allowance and/or student accomodation costs via Studylink, or;
  • Are currently receiving financial assistance from Work and Income or Ministry of Social Development. For example Job Seeker Support, Student Allowance, Disability Allowance, Young Parent or Youth Payment, Sole Parent or Supported Living payment, or;
  • Currently experiencing other financial hardship that prevents you from being able to complete the Startup NZ Entrepreneurs Programme.

If my application is successful, what does a scholarship include?

If your application is successful, Startup NZ Scholarships cover the cost of your course enrollment fee only.

It is your responsibility to provide your own internet enabled computer or tablet to access the course and optional Zoom support sessions online.

You will have 12 months to complete the programme from the time your scholarship is awarded.

What happens if I miss out on a scholarship?

There are are limited number of scholarships available in total for 2022, awarded to qualifying applicants on a "first-in, first-served" basis.

If you miss out on a scholarship, your application will be stored on our waiting list, for when the next release of scholarships becomes available in April 2022.

We will also endeavour to connect those who miss out with potential funders in the interim.

Don't forget, the first three lessons of the programme are always completely free for anyone to take at anytime. So you can still begin your entrepreneur learning journey here today!
